HISTORY
The Pryor Mountain Mustang Breeders Association was started April 7, 1992 by a group of people interested in the Pryor Mountain Mustangs.
The purpose of the association is preserve the gene pool as found in the Pryor Mountain wild herd and to establish a Registry for the registration and preservation of the Pryor Mountain Mustangs and their progeny.
In cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, to protect, preserve, promote, and enhance the wild herd of mustangs which currently inhabit the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Refugee.
In expanding the purpose of the registry, the association has established the following goals:
HOW TO REGISTER YOUR PRYOR MOUNTAIN MUSTANG
For the registration of a Pryor horse, you will need the following:
Completed PMMBA application
A copy of the BLM adoption certificate or BLM adoption certificate of the sire and dam
Blood typing
Photographs of your horse of all four side, the photographs should be close up, so that markings can be seen or they may be emailed to dhartman@tctwest.net
A $10 registration fee for members of PMMBA or a $20 fee for non-members
A final determination will be made by a committee of the PMMBA
For the registration of a horse born in captivity the dam and sire must be registered with PMMBA
CURRENT HORSES REGISTERED
As of October 2006, 191 horses have been registered in 15 states, California, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming. There is also one horse in Canada.
